July 4th Art Trips...But No Art To Show You

Normally we don't like to drive around much on the busy July 4th weekend. The traffic is horrible and one never knows when a tourist camper will rear-end some local octogenarian and bring the whole 2 lane shooting match to a halt. This weekend however we took not one, but two, drives to look at art. One north to Mount Desert Isle and the other south to Bath.
I'll leave the art we saw for another post but we'd like to share one highlight from each trip. First, on Mount Desert Isle there was Willy, a tame crow owned by our charming guide to a magic art kingdom.
Here is Willy and his friend.

Willy was rescued by his friend when, as a chick, he fell or was pushed out of his nest. He has clearly bonded with his savior but will also occasionally go off with local flocks of crows for some quality bird time.
Willy is a real character.

On the trip to Bath we ran across that classic example of Maine small town life, the local 4th of July parade. I took these pictures of folks waiting patiently for it to start. It was wonderful to see this example of home grown patriotism

Happy Independence Day!
