Brian White's "Black Dress"

This is the latest sculpture in Brian's stunning dress series. It was done as a commission for a prominant Maine collector. To my mind it has a stronger feeling of movement than some of his earlier works which seem more to emphasize form over fit. Here there is a feeling of someone actually wearing this sexy little number.

The color, though nominally black, has a graphite tone to it which gives the dress the dark soft texture of cloth in a room lit by candles. There is a partially open zipper in the back, thin somewhat awry straps and the outline of the breasts shows clearly.

A sophisticated party dress for a young woman at the height of her beauty.

  1. My take on this lies with my inclination on simple dresses. The floral design seem to e a bit off, and there's too much going on beneath the waist line.

  2. I think its a cute dress. However, it is not as flexible as other gowns. You might want to go for a gown you can wear to other formal occasions.

  3. Yes, it's a lovely dress, but it can't be worn in an office party. The texture of the dress and the design make it more appropriate for a private event like a gala or something.

  4. I trust everybody is aware that this dress is a sculpture made of carved seashells over a form of cement and steel. It would be a little tough to wear.
